Today I Love: Bristol Spirit
What: Bristol Spirit is the kitchen/bar of Espensen Spirit, who are a Bristol based craft spirit producer. Think of it as a tap room, but instead of beer, it is a showcase place for their amazing range of naturally infused gins, vodkas and whiskies.
They run a variety of amazing nights, ranging from a film club, right through to showing the rugby! At each of these events, you will find a range of bespoke cocktails, which match the night and show off their spirits. They also host a wide variety of food pop ups, which take in the best of Bristol’s street food scene. They currently have Creative Slider Burger Company and next up is Tsukemono Japanese Kitchen.
Where: 86 Whitehall Road, Bristol, BS5 9BQ
Why: I have only been fortunate enough to make it across to two events at Bristol Spirit, but have loved both of them.
Their booze offering is always creative, well priced and super tasty. The last event we went to was a St Patrick’s day themed film night, which involved the showing of the fantastic “The Commitments” paired with a variety of Irish themed cocktails. I took the opportunity to drink a Tiny Guinness, which was a Baileys and Kahlua mix up, hidden in a tiny glass. Not only was it tasty, it was hilariously proportioned Guinness look a like. Then I tried a fruity take on a whisky sour and an equally brilliant take on an Irish Coffee (of which I had two!)
Add to this their fantastic array of food pop ups and you have a proper ace night. At the St Patrick’s Day Film Night, we enjoyed three different sliders cooked up by Creative Slider’s. There was a crispy, Mexican buttermilk chicken one, a rich, thick pork loin one and a beefy, saucey one. All were well flavoured and good to eat. We accompanied these with some messy hot wings and fries, which were topped with crispy chicken and a wasabi yoghurt.
How Much: Cocktails range from around £3-9 and The price of food depends on the pop up currently in residence when you attend the bar. They also serve a great selection of local beers and even a wine or too, if you are so inclined!
