Today I love: Backyard Chicken
What: Backyard Chicken is a fairly recent addition to Clifton triangle in the space that used to be taken up by Cau. It is a light, contemporary restaurant that serves a mix of fried and grilled chicken and plant based alternatives. To order food you simply tap on a nearby tablet device, select what you want and it is brought over to you as soon as it is ready.
Where: 72-74 Queens Road, Bristol, BS8 1QU
Why: Me and my good friend Keir were heading to Hyde and Co (a glorious speakeasy bar that serves awesome cocktails) for a whisky tasting, so we took a look at what deals were on offer on the ever fantastic Wriggle (a local food and drink deals app, think Groupon, but good) and found this place.
I love fried chicken, so it didn’t take much persuading for me to part with my cash and head on in. I had fairly low expectations, as all I had heard about was the unusual (and a slightly gimmicky) ordering system. However the food was really good. The burger was light, crispy, moist and full of flavour and the sides both excellent as well. I can’t vouch for the whole menu, but the staff were super friendly and on this evidence, I would definitely recommend you popping along and checking it out.
How Much: We Wriggled so under £10 for a burger and a side.
